Unpacking…

We are now living in our new house!   Yesterday, the movers delivered all of our belongings, Crate and Barrel delivered new dining room furniture, and and our new TVs arrived as well.

The day went fairly smooth.   The big hiccup was the delivery of our big red cabinet.   It simply wouldn’t fit up the stairs and the Crate and Barrel delivery crew doesn’t do “hoists.”    Luckily we were able to work out a deal with the movers and they did the hoist.   Our couches also wouldn’t fit up the stairs – they went up and over the 2nd floor balcony.   The cabinet, however, was too big to fit over the railing.   So we disassembled our balcony railing and hoisted the cabinet into the house.   It was complicated, but everything made it in.

Eventually everything made it safely inside the house.  We are making good progress on the unpacking, but we still have a long way to go.   Looks like we’ll be living amongst boxes for a week or two.

Today was less complicated.   We finished installing the closet system and unpacked most of our clothes.   We don’t yet have our new dresses, so we can’t fully unpack.   Comcast arrived in the early afternoon to install cable, internet, and phone service.   Midway through that, Select Comfort showed up to deliver our new bed (well, mattress).  Pottery Barn is supposed to be calling Tuesday to set up delivery of the new bed frame.    The kitchen is about halfway unpacked, and that will be the task for Sunday.

The puppies are adjusting – the really like having a back yard that they can roam in freely.    Earlier today they were sitting out on the front balconies.  Matilda really likes sitting out there and watching people and cars go by.

We are right across from Ballard high school and also the Ballard Public Pool, so we get a fair amount of traffic.    The noise level is really low though – our house has very good sound insulation.

Last thing we need to do – buy a doorbell.   For some reason we don’t have one.
